Since the start in 1955, Vi Unga has been a youth organization open to all young people.

Vi Unga is an association to show young people their own value, their potential and their rights in the society. We think that all young people can achieve much more than they, and most of all, the rest of the society, think. Through educations, events, meetings and camps, all arranged by other young people, we want to communicate the possibilities for anyone to speak freely of and fulfilling their dreams, hopes and ideas without the influence of supervising and often misunderstanding adults. To do this, it is part of our concept to let the organization be governed by young people and to listen to whatever voice in the association that wants to be heard.

The association is divided into districts, which administer and assist a number of local units, called clubs. The members of these clubs are free to organize any activity they like at the moment, as long as it is the members of the club that have taken the decision to organize and carry out the activities, and no consumption of alcohol is involved.

The activities come in a large variety; at the moment, everything from movie nights and role-playing gaming to poetry slams and sound technique courses take place in the clubs. The national governing body also offers a broad spectrum of educations; for instance pedagogies, management, rhetoric and so on.

Through these activities and educations, including the management thereof, we want young people to understand the principals of management and to gain the self-confidence to act in the society, as we, through their governing of the association and the principals thereof, also want them to understand the principals of democracy and to gain the courage to take part of the governing of the society.

Every year, a number of activities are arranged for all members of Vi Unga. Among these can be mentioned the annual "Rixläger", a one-week gathering which includes many different workshops, courses etc. During this week, an annual meeting takes place. This is where all members, no matter their age or where they come from, can participate in the making of the decisions taken for the development of an even better organization.

Note that the non-drinking policy applies on all activity in Vi Unga.

All of what is done in Vi Unga is meant to be made by and for young people. We know that young people want to be in charge of their own spare time, and therefore we want everybody to share their ideas and together arrange activities. We youngsters want to be able to make our voices heard and take responsibility in the society.

Vi Unga is an association politically and religiously independent, where all young folks can meet on equal conditions independent from political views, religion, sex, ethnicity and sexuality. Vi Unga is exactly what it means. It is an association for all young folks.
